The burner operates at 20 PSI and once the furnace is hot it consumes approximately two gallons of propane to cook one gallon of sorghum syrup.

The mounting plate is built to fit the inside dimensions of the furnace and framed with angle iron to provide rigidity. The plate is not attached to the furnace. The two ½"X6"x6"x18" pieces of angle iron are bolted perpendicularly to the bottom of the angle iron, which frames the plate. These provide the base. 5/16 inch bolts are used to assemble the plate, frame and base. A slightly elongated hole centered horizontally and nine inches from the top is cut in the mounting plate.
