Henderson Mill
Sorghum syrup making
August 21, 2004
|
Henderson Mill is in North Forsyth County, Ga., just two miles off Ga.
400.
My first syrup making started in 1997 and it has slowly improved over
the years and now we are able to make some pretty good syrup. We
started grinding around 5:00 A.M. and cooked all day making 147 gals.
of syrup from Sugar Drip variety.
Our cane is ground on a Mobile Pulley and Machine Mill #74 which is belted up to a tractor. We cook on a 16 ft. evaporator which is heated by propane. We also have a working grist mill and grind for the public on Saturday mornings. |
